Plastics Solutions for Medical Technology

Materials and finished parts that meet the most stringent requirements

The best possible quality of life and mobility well into old age, and the desire for a long life with as little pain as possible – these major trends in the medical industry are leading to an increase in surgical procedures and new treatment options. Consequently, demand for innovative medical-grade plastic components is growing. Combined with rising cost and regulatory pressures, as well as increasingly stringent regulations – particularly regarding biocompatibility, traceability and documentation – this poses major challenges for medical device manufacturers. Physiological safety, even during brief patient contact, is also becoming an increasingly important focus.

Façade Creations supports medical device manufacturers with tried-and-tested plastics for medical technology, ranging from certified semi-finished products to finished, customised components. Product safety, patient benefit and cost control are always at the forefront.

Your One-Stop Shop for Medical Plastic Components

As a full-service provider of plastics for the medical sector, Façade Creations covers the entire value chain in-house. From an extensive selection of materials and compounding, through extrusion and machining, to injection moulding and profile extrusion. This broad spectrum of manufacturing processes for medical technology plastics offers our customers the highest levels of quality, safety and flexibility, and thus a wide range of possibilities for developing innovative medical devices right through to the finished component.

Together with our customers, we develop and manufacture medical-grade plastic components that are precisely tailored to their requirements. From the initial contact and material selection, through the choice of suitable manufacturing technology, to the implementation of downstream processes and quality assurance. Patient safety is our top priority: both in the selection of physiologically safe materials and in the assessment of biocompatibility properties in accordance with ISO 10993.

Façade Creations’ medical-grade plastics, identified within our medical-grade standard portfolio, meet the highest compliance standards in terms of documentation, traceability and change notifications. This ensures our customers benefit from a seamless transfer of data and knowledge during product approval worldwide.

Benefits for the Medical Technology Industry

  • Quality management system
  • Global expertise
  • Traceability
  • Compliance

Quality management system DIN EN ISO 13485:2016

Façade Creations has introduced a quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 across many areas of our development, production and distribution of thermoplastics at our facilities. With this certified quality management system for medical technology, Façade Creations offers its customers additional security.

Decades of experience

With our extensive experience in the medical industry, we work together with our customers to develop the optimum solution, from the initial idea to the production of the finished product.

Medical experts across the globe

Thanks to the global presence of the Façade Creations team in the medical industry segment, our customers on all continents are able to benefit from our high-quality solutions.

Order-related and consistent

Due to strict documentation during the individual process steps, consistent traceability with regard to the products and the raw materials used is standard at Façade Creations. For plastic materials within our medical-grade standard portfolio, a declaration of conformity is issued on an order-related basis. This enables our customers to have clear traceability.

Reliable change notification

For medical-grade products, the aim is to keep the materials and manufacturing process as unchanged as possible. In case of changes, high evaluation standards apply within the scope of our medical-grade change management, and customers are informed of relevant changes as early as possible through a formal change notification. The aim is always to provide equivalent products despite any necessary adjustments.

One-Stop Shop for Medical Technology

To offer our customers the highest quality and exemplary service, we combine materials expertise and process know-how in a fully integrated value chain. From initial contact and material selection to the appropriate manufacturing technology and the implementation of follow-up processes and quality assurance: the Façade Creations One-Stop Shop, with its cross-divisional approach, enables us to create tailor-made solutions for medical technology from a single source.

Solutions for Medical Technology

Biocompatible plastics
Plastic materials within our medical-grade standard portfolio are tested according to ISO 10993 pursuant to their intended use, preferably on the finished product. They fulfil the requirements specified in the respective test. However, the evaluation of biocompatibility can also be completely adapted to the customer’s individual needs.

Sterilisation-resistant plastics
A wide range of medical devices, such as surgical instruments, can be reused after intensive cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation. Our medical-grade materials have good chemical resistance and excellent sterilisation resistance to common processes.

X-ray detectable plastics
In many procedures, X-ray images support the verification of the exact positioning of the medical device, such as a trial implant in a joint operation. Our medical-grade portfolio therefore includes special X-ray detectable material types, which allow a precise view of the instruments during image-guided interventions.

Low-density plastics
The increasing number of operations and surgical procedures demand increasingly effective instruments that are light in handling. Our medical-grade materials have a low specific weight, which leads to significant weight savings compared to metal instruments.

Coloured plastics
In global competition, differentiation through colour and corporate branding is of increasing importance. The colour differentiation of different versions or sizes of medical products is also increasingly done through a corresponding colour scheme. Our medical-grade portfolio includes a range of materials in a variety of different colours.
