OUR COMMITMENT

Building more than façades

At Façade Creations, we believe a business built on precision, craftsmanship, and long-term thinking carries a responsibility that reaches beyond the buildings we deliver. The Façade Creations Foundation is how we turn that belief into action – channelling our expertise, our people, and our resources into the industry and communities that make our work possible.

As a vertically integrated consultancy, we manage the entire façade lifecycle in-house: design, procurement, fabrication, and installation, delivered as principal contractor across commercial, residential, education, transport, and public-sector projects throughout the UK and internationally. That same hands-on, end-to-end approach shapes how we think about social value. It isn’t a policy document filed away and forgotten -it is a set of practical commitments we resource, act on, and can be held to.

The industry that shapes our skylines should also shape opportunity for the people within it.

Why this matters now

Construction and façade engineering are facing a well-documented capability gap. The Construction Industry Training Board’s most recent Construction Workforce Outlook estimates the UK needs an average of over 40,000 additional construction workers every year through to 2030 – more than 200,000 people in total. That shortfall is driven by an ageing workforce, the continued loss of European labour since Brexit, and a training pipeline that isn’t yet replacing leavers fast enough. Specialist trades – the ones our own work depends on, including glazing, cladding, structural façade engineering, and fire engineering – are among the hardest hit.

For a specialist consultancy like ours, this is not an abstract statistic. Curtain walling, façade engineering, and structural glazing depend on expertise that takes years to build properly. If we want a supply of skilled engineers, fabricators, and installers in ten years’ time, we have to help create it today. That is exactly what the Foundation exists to do – and why it sits at the centre of how we think about our long-term future as a business, not as a side project to it.

This is not a UK-only challenge. As a consultancy delivering projects across the UK and internationally, we see the same structural gap – ageing workforces, thin training pipelines, growing demand – echoed in nearly every market we operate in. The Foundation’s approach is built to travel with us: wherever in the world Façade Creations is building, investing in local skills and local communities is part of how we work.

WHERE WE FOCUS

Four commitments, one purpose

Every initiative we support is chosen because it builds capability, resilience, or opportunity – whether that’s a young person taking their first step into a technical career, a community group near one of our sites, or an environmental project that reflects our wider sustainability commitments. We would rather do a small number of things well, sustained over years, than spread ourselves thin across one-off gestures. That is the standard we hold ourselves to across every part of the business, and it is the standard we apply here too.

1. Building Futures – skills, training & apprenticeships

Façade engineering depends on specialist expertise that takes years to develop, and the industry-wide skills gap makes that harder every year. Through the Foundation, we invest directly in the pipeline of future talent:

  • Funded apprenticeships across curtain walling, cladding, glazing, structural façade engineering, and fire engineering
  • Technical training bursaries for employees and new entrants pursuing recognised qualifications
  • Partnerships with colleges and universities across the Midlands – and, as our international project base grows, technical training partnerships in the regions where we deliver work worldwide
  • Site-based work placements and structured mentoring – a genuine, supervised route into the trade, not just a day’s site visit
  • Sponsorship of CITB and City & Guilds-aligned training programmes and wider industry skills initiatives

What success looks like: a steady, well-trained pipeline of façade engineering talent that reduces our own reliance on scarce specialist labour, while giving people entering the industry a genuine career rather than just a job. We track this by the number of apprenticeships and placements funded each year – and, more importantly, by how many of those people are still working in the industry three and five years on.

2. Community impact

From our base in Leicestershire to project sites across the UK and around the world, the Foundation supports the places where our people and our projects actually live – wherever in the world that may be:

  • Grants and in-kind support for local charities and community organisations, often nominated by our own employees, who know their communities best
  • School and college outreach – site visits, careers talks, and STEM engagement days that introduce young people to construction and engineering as a genuine, exciting career option
  • Local sponsorship of community facilities, sports clubs, and grassroots initiatives near our offices and major project sites
  • An annual employee-led Community Challenge – small teams from across the business are given modest seed funding and full backing to design and deliver a project with a lasting local legacy: refurbishing a community space, restoring a neglected facility, or running a fundraiser for a cause they care about, start to finish
  • Rapid-response support for communities affected by hardship or crisis, drawing on our supply chain and technical resources where they are genuinely useful

What success looks like: sustained, visible relationships with a small number of partners in every region we operate – not scattergun donations we can’t trace the impact of.

3. Diversity, inclusion & wellbeing

A stronger industry is a more representative one. Construction and façade engineering have historically struggled to reflect the diversity of the communities they build in, and wellbeing on site has too often taken a back seat to physical safety alone. The Foundation is one of the ways we are working to change both:

  • Funding and partnerships with organisations that open construction and engineering careers to underrepresented groups
  • Returner and career-change programmes, helping people re-enter the industry after a break – a career break, a period of unemployment, or a complete change of direction
  • Support for resettlement programmes that lead into genuine construction employment, following an approach several major UK contractors have already proven works
  • Mental health and wellbeing initiatives across our workforce and supply chain, including training for site managers to recognise and respond to concerns before they become a crisis
  • Support for the Armed Forces Covenant and veteran transition into technical trades

What success looks like: a workforce – ours and the wider industry’s – that better reflects modern Britain, and a site culture where raising a wellbeing concern carries the same weight as reporting a safety one.

4. Environment & sustainability

The Foundation works hand in hand with our Carbon Reduction Plan and Environmental Policy, extending our company-wide sustainability commitments into direct community and grassroots action:

  • Support for local environmental and green-space projects near our sites and offices
  • Green-skills training – helping the next generation of engineers understand low-carbon materials, energy-efficient façade design, and retrofit techniques that will define much of the industry’s work over the next decade
  • Partnerships with organisations working on urban greening, biodiversity, and sustainable construction education
  • Employee-led environmental volunteering days

What success looks like: a Foundation that reinforces, rather than duplicates, our formal environmental commitments – sustainability put into the hands of our people and communities directly, not filed away in a compliance report.

HOW IT WORKS

Governed with the same rigour as everything else we build

The Foundation sits within our wider governance structure, with oversight from our ESG Board and full alignment to our published CSR Policy, Environmental Policy, and Carbon Reduction Plan. Community and charitable investment is held to the same standard of accountability as the rest of the business – not treated as a separate budget line that exists purely for its own sake.

Support takes several forms: direct funding, employee volunteering days, in-kind material or technical expertise, and longer-term structured partnerships with organisations that share our values. We deliberately favour a small number of deep, sustained relationships over a large number of one-off donations. It is slower, and it is less flashy – but it is how we make sure the Foundation’s impact is real and traceable, rather than symbolic.

Employee involvement

The Foundation is shaped as much by our people as by company leadership. Employees across Façade Creations are encouraged to:

  • Nominate local causes and charities for consideration
  • Take paid volunteering days to support community and education initiatives
  • Participate in mentoring, careers talks, and school outreach
  • Lead or join a team for our annual Community Challenge, with seed funding and full backing from the business
  • Take part in matched-giving or payroll-giving schemes, where available

This grassroots insight – employees who know their own communities, their own schools, their own local charities – is matched with the Foundation’s resources to make sure support goes where it is genuinely needed, not just where it is easiest to write a cheque.

Impact & reporting

We report on the Foundation’s activity annually, alongside our wider ESG and CSR disclosures. Our reporting covers apprenticeships and training places funded, community partnerships supported, funds and in-kind contributions committed, and employee volunteering hours – and, wherever we can measure it, the outcomes for the people and places we supported, not just the outputs.

GET INVOLVED

Partner with us

We welcome approaches from charities, schools, colleges, and community organisations working in construction skills, education, or local community development. Here is how it works:

Step 1 – Get in touch
Use our contact form to briefly outline your organisation and the support you’re seeking.

Step 2 – We review your request
Our Foundation team considers it against our current focus areas and regional priorities.

Step 3 – We talk
Where there’s a potential fit, we arrange a short call or meeting to understand your work in more detail.

Step 4 – We agree the support
This might be funding, in-kind support, employee volunteering, or – where the fit is strong – a longer-term structured partnership.

We’re not able to support every request we receive, but every enquiry is read and considered by a real person on our team, not filtered out by an automated form.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of organisations does the Foundation support?

Primarily charities, schools, colleges, and community groups working in construction skills and apprenticeships, education and youth outreach, diversity and inclusion in engineering, and community or environmental projects local to our offices and project sites.

Do you support individuals directly?

Our primary route for individuals is through funded apprenticeships, training bursaries, and work placements, rather than direct personal grants.

Can I apply for sponsorship for an event or team?

Smaller local sponsorship requests – sports clubs, community events – are considered case by case. Get in touch with the details and we’ll come back to you.

How is the Foundation funded?

Through a combination of direct company investment and, where applicable, employee fundraising and matched giving.

Does the Foundation only operate near your offices?

Our strongest relationships are naturally close to our Leicestershire base and our UK project sites, but our reach isn’t limited by geography. Façade Creations delivers projects across the UK and internationally, and wherever in the world we’re building, the community around that site is part of the Foundation’s reach too.
